John Murdock''s 1850 census record gives his birthplace as North Carolina.Family tradition says he came to Kentucky from Henry County Georgia. Hedied of Typhoid fever and is believed to be buried "on the Cahill Farm,near Lillian, Texas, where there is a marble monument. He is believed tobe one of the two John Murdocks who served in the Civil War from Texas:under either Capt. Jackson Bradley, Ellis Co. or Capt. Thomas MoodyTarrant Co. (most likely the one from Ellis County).
