BIOGRAPHY: He at one time did a very large business at was then called"Muttonville", a small hemlet in Ontario county, NY now known as Vincent. the former name arose from the fact that Mr Gooding slaughtered a largenumber of sheep, in some years thirty thousand. this business beganabout 1845 and continued into the 1950s. the pelts were tanned by AbijahWarren and Isaac Mason; most of the carcassess were "tried out" and thetallow made into candles or soap, and the rest was fed to swine.
