Lazarus Bryars born Sep. 12, 1739, Kings Parish, Manankin Town, Virginia,married by 1772,Unknown Wife. Lazarus date and place of death have notbeen determined. I can place him So.Carolina, Charlestown in 1777. StJohns Copy of these records under Bryars File in Pensacola, FloridaLibrary. Search this site, Ann Motte Bryars, or maybe another site. There are many of us who are trying to research Lazarus and Lazarus JohnBryars. If Edward Bryars of Va. was his father then we have lost all thetime between 1739 when Lazarus was born in Va. and until he appears inTensaw, Baldwin County, Al., which at the time was Mississippi Territory.Some info makes him born in So. My ancestors Ann Conrad Mott and Lazarus Bryars lived in Colleton andCharleston Counties from approximately 1769 to1789. I am looking for more information on them that would link them toan earlier Lazarus Bryars inChesterfield and Goochland Counties,Virginia.

There could have been more childrenin thismarriage born in Haiti or South Carolina. UNKNOWN; Marriage location anddate uncertain asLazarus John, Sr. could have had older or youngersiblings.

Baptism records in the Church of the French Refugees at Manankin Town inthe Parish of KingWilliam, Virginia show Lazarus John Bryars bornSeptember 12, 1739 to parents, Edward and SarahBryars. A brother''sbirth, Jean, is recorded on July 09, 1731. It is known that there werenumerousother children, but those birth recordings have not been found.
This Lazarus John Bryars had to be the father of the Lazarus John Bryarswho came to Baldwin County, Mississippi Territory around 1800. Familystories state that he came from Charleston, South Carolina on horseback,carrying a blacksmith''s anvil. Another story says that he and a friendnamed "Smith" came to the area first around 1796 to do a survey for thefederal government.
