In 1784, Roswell Huntington advertised as a goldsmith and jewelleropposite the store of Gen. Jedediah Huntington. Whether this is theRoswell Huntington (b. 1763), son of Ebenezer and Sarah (Edgerton)Huntington, (a descendant of the first Simon), who afterwards moved toNorth Carolina, or another Roswell (b. 1754), (son of Samuel Huntingtonof Mansfield, Ct., and a descendant of Christopher Huntington), whomarried in 1777, Sarah Read of Windham, we are unable to say. In 1785,the Whiting heirs sell this shop, "standing on land of Samuel Tracy," toMundator Tracy, son of Simon. The fact that the shop was standing onleased land makes it difficult to learn how soon it disappears. It ispossible that Mundator may have added it to an adjoining shop, which hepurchased soon after, and converted into a house.
